Sir i cannot even begin to explain how long it took to find this vidoe but... I love you.
(Repeat from other video. I want them to see this.) Homeowner review of product: I just replaced my motor with one of these. It's working fine. Now the suggestions: 1) There were no instructions for anything other than basic wiring either in the box or easy to find on their website. 2) The wires are WAY TOO SHORT! I had to cut off the wires from my old unit and splice them in. That makes no sense. If other manufacturers can put on longer wires, so can Century. 3) As a color deficient person I often have to have my wife help identify the colors. On the old unit the brown and black were very different. Once identified, I could easily tell them apart. My wife had to look closely to tell the brown and black apart on the Century. Not good! Fix these things and I would be happy.

That was not helpful. Need to know how to wire a variable speed motor into a single speed system.
I’m only here to say for ECM motor on my three year old outside hvac compressor stopped working.
👍
Do we not know the cfm? Do we just look for .5 or lower with good delta T, SC, SH?
Great tutorial on clever tech. I just had my 10 yr old ecm furnace blower motor replaced for the low, low price of $700. When I asked the service tech WtF, he said "ecm motor". So here I am. Sure, it's more efficient during its brief lifetime. But instead of being a cheap lifetime purchase, it cost me $70/yr for replacement cost. The probability that it saves $70/yr in electricity, seems quite low.
Piece. Of. Crap. Our Rheem motor made it 5 years exactly and now it powers on by itself, might shut off in a short time, might not, or might turn off when it's done calling for AC, or it might try to run for another hour or more and raise humidity. This even with the thermostat wires disconnected.
My genteq x13 died after 8 years
3 year old Rheem unit fan motor died. Complete garbage.
These will need replaced every 18 to 24 months. I'm on my 3rd. Male sure you install a high pressure switch.
Ecm motors are just a way to ensure motors go out more often
Mairathan company ki motor ka koi jawab nahin bahut hi ek number ki motor hoti hai
ok, where do I get the service Manual ?
It should stand for Extremely Crappy Motor. These things are a money grab and a joke. Whoever developed this technology need to be brought out behind the wood shed.
The only thing that is constant in my $8K brand new furnace is a motor whine noise...I hate it. We are in talks with the tech....
Is techinspect from supplyhouse the same tool as tech mate pro?
"infinity"... "infinity"??? you have a meter that measures "infinity"??...
Mine does
Great technology however the price of the motor is a big problem
Why don't you update this vid.. can't buy shit for this steaming pile of engineering crap.. It'd be nice if you did a diagnostic on the ECM portion, maybe how to program this steaming pile of engineering failure. Just disgusted at your folks lack of support and parts and the monopolistic planned obsolesence of this POS. You point fingers at Nordyne, yet you manufactured this steaming pile and provide NO PARTS and Nordyne the steaming pile they are says this POS is a defunct and no longer supported PN. How MF convenient. THIS IS TOTAL BS. Support the POS engineered GE steaming pile with parts for the 100's of thousands of homeowners that this POS is in.
Can the TCB wear indicator be used on a melt shop crane? Temp ~ 135F
Do u have any other wiring sources for ECM motors? Thank u.
I’m old so you saying this is easier doesn’t work for me. I prefer to know exactly where when why how the problem is. Not offering a Corel module is dumb too. Now we have the even stupidest technology with Bluetooth will present many new problems.. too many to cover, but one I will say is, now people that shouldn’t be trying to fix things they don’t comprehend!! On top of it will take away from many aspects of technicians..??
just a piss poor design.. designed to fail.. planned obsolescence.. should be a class action lawsuit.
What if the motor runs without 24 volt input?
Then it’s a bad module on the motor. I’ve seen that a few times.
That's what mine is currently doing. Sometimes keeps running after the call for AC is done and outside condenser is off, sometimes it works right and shuts off after 45 seconds, sometimes it comes right back on and runs for any weird amount of time, and sometimes I finally have to turn the breaker off. At least now there are alternatives to replacing this whole overpriced motor. You can do just an ECM or buy a Mars or Evergreen complete motor and it learn. Crazy.
PROBSTROKER
You mean "3 and 4" taps not " 2 and 3" is this guy even paying attn??
I had a similar problem with a 2.3 and the Supco tradefox tester and the motor ran but not with harness. Not sure if some testers have different ways of testing the motor
Can I lower the speed of this motor?
I have the same question. I have only pink, white, and green wires on tap 5, 4, and 3 respectively. Did you get this figured out?
I have an issues with x13 it does its cycle but repeatedly turns on for 1,to 2seconds the off multiply times any info icm and motor have been replaced still same issues
Hi, When you connect the TechMate Pro does the motor run in full speed?
It's a wonderful technology
Favor de traducirlo al español... saludos cordiales desde ESCOBEDO N.L. México septiembre 5 2023
these are junk!!! i bought a brand new rheem unit.. replaced it 2.5 years ago and 2.5 years later today i just literally had to replace it again!
Mine same, this shitting quality shouldn’t be in the market, is there somewhere for consumers to get reimbursed by the manufacturer? We should file lawsuits against them
Want to try something really cool if the motor ohms out bad? Look in there and find where the winding wires are wrapped around each other. Un wind them and if the motor was testing bad it isn't any more. Bad design!
Two of these have died in my Rheem A/C over the past 6 years. He mentions surge protection, but as an electrical engineer I have studied the circuit diagram, there is a thermistor, for inrush current control, but NO surge protection.
Mine same, 4.5 years two of them died, this is piece of junk motor
Buyer beware, I'm on my third ECM in 15 years. A better video to watch is how to convert to ECM to PSC motor for a small fraction of the cost.
Go Pat! Awesome technology.
In terms of overall comfort and nice slow start/stopping it's a nice design for homeowners that don't care to listen to the sound of the furnace while also saving a couple dollars in hydro consumption. They can drop to ridiculously low rpms for continuous fan operation that a psc cannot do. However, once that module fails and needs replacing, the manufacturer is laughing their way to the bank with the cost of the replacement that consists of about $50 or less in electronic parts is somewhere between $600 to over $1000 just for the module, not even including a motor!
i definitely understand why ECMs are attractive for system designers. but the reliability issues and the non-repairability of the drivers is why i'd rather use a 3 phase motor and a vfd. vfds are cheap, and so are inverter duty motors from companies like Weg. sure you have to locate the vfd in an enclosure with surge protection, but ones from good companies like Fuji Electric will last for decades, and are completely repairable, because the circuits are not potted in epoxy. Fuji has been making vfds since the 70s so they know what's up.
Im waiting gor you to say the voltage ouput in the communication cable...
Sadly, Genteq X13 has a bad reputation for overpriced ECM motors/modules and total unreliable which carries high maintenance costs. Every HVAC tech says so. Maybe find electronic parts that will not fail in 15 years of use ! Cheap inferior components is plain dumb.
Are the modules still failing way too early such as the power in rush component? Seems that those ECM's are well over priced for the benefits they give as just one service call eliminates any savings on power for life.
Question is what are the savings/benefits over a $180 PSC replacement?
Oh I forgot ther are expensive too some costs between $800 to $1500 these pieces of crap
These motor are junk you can't even repair it they make full of cilicone so you can't change a simple capacitor or anything in the module junk junk don't last I had replace twice within a year wherever I go I have to swap it with the psc better
I went to a new account today where they had 21 hvac units and 5 of them had failed ECM motors
My carrier furnaces and acs are near 30 years old. Still running great. Love the PSC motors. Who cares about gaining 20% efficiency
They are stepper motors with built in rectifier.
Got to love these terrible X13's...notorious for having the ECM boards fail on them! And the best part is the ECM is damn near impossible to get, and if you can find a supplier, it costs almost as much as a whole new motor. Absolute trash.
It's an overkill for the HVAC system.
